The church at Reno: Simply Christians...
As a church in Reno, we strive to teach the Word of Christ as accurately and honestly as possible. Our church has been a place where Christ and Christians meet for over 60 years. We are part of the church that was founded on the Day of the Pentecost in the first century. The Bible may consist of more than 750,000 words, but Christ’s teachings are simple. Any honest seeker can become a true disciple of Christ. We would love to assist anyone desiring this transformation for their life.
The church at Reno was established in 1957 when Rodney Reyman and his family moved here from Sacramento, California. The congregation originally met on the corner of Kirman and Apple Street in Reno.
Since 1977, the congregation in Reno has been located at 1205 N. McCarran Blvd. Reno, Nevada. The building is between Clearacre Blvd and Sutro on North McCarran, almost directly across the street from the Sonic Drive-in.
We also hold services in Fernley, Nevada. The church in Fernley meets on Sunday mornings in the Fernley Branch Library building. The address is:
575 Silver Lace Blvd, Fernley, NV 89408
Evangelist Wayne Cobb preaches there each Sunday. For more information contact Wayne Cobb at (775) 786-5432.
Why are we here?
Many people from all walks of life come to Christ to find their true meaning and purpose. When we submit to our Creator, He reveals his plan for each and every one of us. God is perfect, and wants us to join Him in heaven. We can do this by following the savior sent by God, Jesus Christ. If we accept God’s gift of salvation, we will find our true purpose. The Preachers and Elders at the church at Reno can help guide you.
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free” John 8:32
We are a friendly congregation, but are serious in the way we follow God and the New Testament. The church is non-denominational. We are simply Christians. The church is a friendly place where you will always be accepted. We want to help you and your family live the life you were meant to live, one that follows the Bible.
When it comes to churches in Reno, we know you have a choice. At the church at Reno, you won’t just be another face in the crowd. Our services are small and intimate. We get to know and care for each and every one of our members. We are a family here, from our excellent Sunday school classes to personal Bible studies within our Academy to our time around the Lord’s table.
We seek to encourage and build each other up.
The power in our preaching, comes from the word of God. Many of our sermons are topical and relevant. Our music is upbeat and lively. We incorporate many different instruments in our worship of God. We teach the Word of God and challenge people to make real changes in their lives. Oftentimes, churches attempt to be too modern or edgy and lose sight of Christ and his Word. Adhering to the truth of Scripture will always be a number one priority for us at the church at Reno.
If you cannot attend a service in person, we provide live streams so you can tune in wherever you are. In addition, we have nearly all of our sermons on YouTube and in audio files so you can take the messages with you as you move through this busy world.
To be studious is to be closer to God.
The church Academy has been a part of the ministry at the church at Reno since 1978. Over the years, our Bible-based classes have helped guide young minds to do impressive things in the world. Our private Christian school provides high-quality education; many of our students test at or above their national grade level. A Christian school is a great alternative to public school.
The church at Reno and the church Academy are conveniently located in the same building. With easy access and an intimate setting, we want to be your best choice for a church and private Christian school in Reno. The benefit of having our church connected to the Academy means that everyone in the family can worship and learn under the same roof. By attending services and school in the same place, your child will have a strong sense of community. This will be the place he or she will make deep-rooted connections. Growing up in a church setting gives familiarity and leads to a strong moral foundation that will help students the rest of their lives.
We are Bible learners, disciples of Christ. Our mission is to spread the Word of God via New Testament Christianity. We teach the fruits of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, ,gentleness, and self-control. When we live according to God’s Word and always put Jesus first, we will receive life eternal. Together we can lead better lives as true Christians.
Ministries
The vision of the church at Reno is to glorify God by evangelizing the lost and edifying Christians, not only in Northern Nevada but in all the world. Our mission is to make known the gospel message of salvation and to equip and train others for this same work.
The church at Reno seeks to glorify God by doing His will. God's truth we must "entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also" (2 Timothy 2:2). We are involved in declaring the wisdom of God (Ephesians 3:7-12). We share in the work of equipping "the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ...speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him, who is the head, even Christ" (Ephesians 4:12,13,15).
This is our purpose, as stated by Paul:
"God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. And we proclaim him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, that we may present every man complete in Christ. And for this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me."
-Colossians 1:27-29
“The goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith.”
-I Timothy 1:5
